Aqta’ Fjura, Ippjana Protesta: Cassola Reshares Mugshot Following Environmental Protest 30 Years Ago
Independent candidate Arnold Cassola revealed an image taken at the Corradino prison upon being arrested 30 years back, on social media.
Cassola had been arrested following a protest against the development of natural land in Gozo. Together with his friends, Cassola persisted until he was taken to court and eventually was taken in.
“Back then I couldn’t understand how the state could endorse such savage destruction. Now that I understand how money is involved in politics, I am a little less surprised.”
That is the reason he remained independent, he stated, so that he could view matters objectively and fairly.
“Today I am 70 years old, and the only things that have changed about myself are the colour of my hair and the wrinkles on my face,” said Cassola.
The want to protect Malta is as strong as it was back then, he claimed.
