Maltese MEPS Announce European Parliament Committee Roles For Upcoming Legislature

The Maltese MEPs in Strasbourg have announced which parliamentary committees they’ll be joining and where they will be working for the upcoming legislature.

PN MEP Peter Agius is set to work on the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection, the Committee on Petitions, and the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, where he will serve as deputy coordinator.

“I am pleased to announce that I have been elected by my colleagues in the EPP as Deputy Coordinator in the Petitions Committee. I will be working in this role with Alma Ezcurra from the Spanish Popular Party,” Agius wrote on his Facebook page.

He emphasised the importance of the Petitions Committee, saying it can play a crucial role in addressing deadlocks to EU rights due to poor implementation in member states.

MEP Thomas Bajada will be focusing on the Committee on Fisheries, the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.

Alex Agius Saliba will be part of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, and the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection.

David Casa will be continuing his work on the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

Daniel Attard has joined the Committee on Transport and Tourism, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and the Committee on Regional Development.
