Labour Member of the European Parliament Alex Agius Saliba was recognised as the Rising Star of EU Politics at the annual MEP Awards ceremony.

Agius Saliba was the only Maltese MEP given an award in this legislature.

The ceremony was held by the Parliament Magazine which is the leading publication and influential journal in European politics and every year it recognises and celebrates the accomplishments of members.

Agius Saliba won the Rising Star of EU Politics, a new category, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the MEP Awards, which identifies key MEPs as rising stars following the significant impact of their work and commitment in their first mandate.

The awarded MEPs were identified and chosen as ‘rising stars’ by the Parliament magazine’s team due to their influence and the significant role they will play in the future of the new Parliament that will form after the election in June.

“This award reinvigorates my determination and energises me to continue working to improve the quality of life and working conditions for all EU citizens, but especially for Maltese and Gozitans,” Agius Saliba said following the ceremony.

This award follows other prestigious nominations and awards.  At the same ceremony, Agius Saliba was also nominated for the ‘Youth Champion of the Mandate’ by the Parliament Magazine.

Agius Saliba has been nominated in all four editions of the MEP awards throughout this legislature, where previously he was nominated for the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (2020), Health and Wellbeing Award (2022), and Digital Strategy and the Single Market Award (2023).
