Roberta Metsola Gets Highest Number Of Votes In European History

Besides becoming the first woman to get re-elected as European Parliament president, Roberta Metsola has gotten the highest number of votes in European history with 562 votes which equates to 90.2% of the valid ballots.
Metsola was reappointed just moments ago, winning 562 votes to Irene Montero’s 62.
In Metsola’s speech following the re-election, she stated that the parliament’s priority will remain the war in Ukraine while investment in industry and ensuring a climate battle harmonised with sustainable development will remain priorities.
She continued to state that Europe must remain the voice for a two-state solution and honoured Daphne and Pelin Kaya, saying that we must build a Europe for them where women and journalists are safe.
