European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has stated that if Malta’s few MEPs do not work together, then it is the population that will suffer.

“One thing I’ve learned is that if the six of us do not work together, then the Maltese citizens will not be well represented,” Metsola said when asked by Lovin Malta if she was disappointed by PL MEPs Alex Agius Saliba and Daniel Attard’s decision to abstain from voting this morning.

Metsola explained that since the country has so little representatives, it is in the national interest for all members to work together. However, she said that they must now explain and justify their vote.

She continued to state that this decision by the MEPs makes the internal divide within the Labour Party evident and that she hopes that everyone can work for the good of the country because it needs it.
