In his first public message after he was officially approved as a PL candidate for the upcoming European Parliament elections, Steve Ellul said Malta needs MEPs who are “proud to be Maltese”.

“Perhaps more than ever before, Malta needs worthy and competent MEPs who, above everything else, are proud to be Maltese,” Ellul said.

The former Project Green CEO was nominated as an MEP by Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, former Prime Minister and current MEP Alfred Sant, and former EU Commissioner Karmenu Vella.

Although he had recently led a policymaking forum to come up with economic proposals for the Labour Party, this is Ellul’s first proper foray into politics.

Ellul is the PL’s sixth MEP candidate, joining current MEP Alex Agius Saliba, Daniel Attard, Jesmond Bonello, Marija Sara Vella Gafa, and Clint Azzopardi Flores.
