Watch: ‘Google Me Babes’ – David Walliams’ Controversial 10-Minute Epic Promo For Film Festival Airs Tonight
Finally, three months after it first aired at the Mediterrane Film Festival this June, the country will now get the opportunity to watch Once Upon A Time In Malta, a controversial 10-minute promo film featuring English comedian David Walliams and Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech.
The short film made headlines earlier this summer when its lavish production costs were leaked, with industry sources telling Lovin Malta the 10-minute promo cost far more than €500,000.
At one point, Film Commissioner Johann Grech stars in the promo himself, with excerpts released by Lovin Malta showing him hand Walliams the festival’s trophy.
Eventually, the British comedian ends up falling into a wormhole where he travels back to Malta during the days of the Knights… and it’s this moment that has now been teased.
In an exclusive clip shared by Illum, Walliams comes face to face with the Knights (one of whom is played by popular actor Ray Calleja), including the Grandmaster himself, as he’s caught in a comic heist of the award, which he likens to a doorstopper.

Tonight, the Golden Bee Awards will be aired on TVM… and with them, Once Upon A Time In Malta.
“No matter how long it takes, we will do whatever it takes, to bring the adventures of the Knights to the screen,” Johann Grech posted on Facebook this afternoon, quoting his own speech from the awards show which everyone will finally be able to watch tonight.
Beyond the awards, the show is also set to feature a number of performances from artists like Kurt Calleja, Pamela Bezzina, Calum Scott, and Joseph Calleja… but we all know why most of us are going to be tuning in.
The Golden Bee Awards premieres tonight on TVM at 9pm. Will you be watching?
