Who on Earth doesn’t love a comforting mac n cheese session? I mean good Mac n cheese, not the USA boxed microwavable kind, but that gourmet stuff.
It literally just sticks to the ribs and makes you feel sorry for people who are lactose intolerant.
Here’s a short and sweet list of where to get your mac n cheese fix in Malta:
1. Fat Louie’s, St Julian’s
Fat Louie’s is the mac to my cheese.
They never ever fail to impress whether it’s for their cheat day plates, special menus, and everything else in between. So it’s only natural that their Mac n cheese is on point (which consists of Gruyere, mature cheddar and reggiano).
2. Tex Mex South, Marsaxlokk
The two options of mac & cheese that Tex Mex South are offering include:
Broccoli mac & cheese bake (rigatoni & broccoli in a creamy cheese sauce layered with smoked tomato & bell pepper salsa, bufala mozzarella & herb fried breadcrumbs).
Cajun chicken and chorizo mac & cheese (with mature cheddar cheese & fresh bufala mozzarella, spanish chorizo sausage meat, cajun seasoned chicken bites, chopped onion & bell peppers, cheese sauce & a touch of their house pomodoro sauce topped with more cheese & breadcrumbs).
3. Fredy’s Diner, Qormi
Fredy’s mac n cheese involves maccheroni doused in a premium cheese sauce, caramelised onions and topped with heat-blasted cheddar cheese.
4. New York Best
St Julian’s, Sliema, Msida
NYB have not one but two unique kinds of mac n cheese offerings!
A big ass burger with a huge mac & cheese fitter placed on top of the patty and also deep fried mac n cheese balls.
Take. My. Money.
5. Hungry Cow, St Paul’s Bay
Whether it’s your thing or not, you will have an opinion on Hungry Cow’s new mac & cheese pancetta pizza (which is also available for delivery, FYI).
6. Hard Rock Cafe
St Julian’s, Valetta, Luqa
Hard Rock offers Cavatappi macaroni tossed in a three-cheese sauce with roasted red peppers, topped with Parmesan parsley bread crumbs, garlic toast and grilled chicken breast.
Nom nom Nom.
