7 Cool Bars You Need To Visit The Next Time You’re In Gozo
Gozo is the land of mythical legends, the best pizza(s) in the universe and wholesome food. It’s also the home of some pretty amazing bars and holes in the wall which offer a great atmosphere, tasty snacks and unforgettable experiences.
If you don’t know where to start, here are seven places to get you in the mood for a Gozo getaway.
1. Glory of England
Victoria
This pretty bar in the heart of Victoria is a must-visit for any anglophile. It’s a tiny hole in the wall chockfull of memorabilia.
The atmosphere is a lazy one, full of charm and a proper Gozitan spirit.
2. Lucky Jack’s
Victoria
If you fancy a game of bowling while on our sister island, head on down to Lucky Jack’s. This place has a spacious bowling alley and it also serves an array of cocktails, burgers and snacks.
They also have a games arcade available if you don’t feel like spending your whole night bowling and drinking.
3. Gleneagles Bar
Mġarr
This fly Gozitan bar has been around forever. Literally. It’s rumoured to have been open since the 1700s when it was built as a dormitory for soldiers stationed in Mġarr. Amazing views can be enjoyed from the pretty balcony outside which overlooks the harbour.
This must-visit is as classic as it gets, trust us.
4. Horatio’s Upper Deck
Mġarr
Another cool Mġarr spot, Horatio’s Upper Deck is mostly known for hosting live bands regularly. They’re pretty close to the ferry landing so you can just pop by and enjoy a nice beer as you wait for the ferry.
It’s also one of the few places in Gozo which open till late, so if you feel like a super late drink and a snack, head down to this tiny treasure.
5. Astra Bar
Victoria
Situated in the heart of Gozo’s capital, this bar is found in one of the prettiest opera theatres on the island.
Live football and operas are hosted under the same roof in this cool complex. If you’re more into a poshy Gozitan spot than a homely bar, Astra is the place to be.
6. Tapie’s Bar
Victoria
If you’re into traditional decor and the best cup of tea the island has to offer, head down to Tapie’s. It’s almost always crowded AF, and we can totally see why.
This old school spot offers lunch and dinner with a difference too and the staff is super-efficient and friendly.
7. Rabokk
Nadur
This spot is favoured by Gozitans all over the island. It serves some pretty tasty food and is one of the most sought after bars. If you’re fancying a late-night pizza and a laid-back friendly atmosphere, give this place a very well deserved visit.
