7 Of Malta’s Favourite Supermarkets
Quality, quantity, offers and convenience all play a big part when we pick our supermarket. Fortunately, we’ve got a lot of supermarkets popping up around the island, and we soon end up being absolutely spoilt for choice.
If you’re new to Malta or don’t know where to go to get all your shopping for supplies done, here are seven supermarkets that are the island’s go-to. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, and neither is it in any order.
1. PAVI
Qormi
One of the first big boys to pop up in the island. Pavi is absolutely huge, and even comes along with many other major shops which have pounced on the opportunity to open up beside it. Situated on Manuel Dimech Street, the shopping complex comes with its own parking area that goes all the way up to the building’s literal roof.
2. Greens
Swieqi
Recently opened and one of the newest on the island. We’ve all heard the jingle, and that alone should give you the incentive to visit.
This supermarket in Swieqi has a way of making you equally feel like you’re in a market, and a high-tech building from the future.
Greens will soon be opening a new branch at Gozo’s The Duke shopping mall.
3. Park Towers
St. Julian’s
Another supermarket to have invested heavily into moving to a new location, fortunately for us, with spectacular results.
One of those places that’s worth a visit even if only for the experience.
4. Scotts
Attard, Naxxar, Burmarrad, Santa Lu?ija, Sliema, Spinola, ?abbar, Fleur de Lys
Is it just us or is a Scotts popping up everywhere you look? With eight supermarkets around the island, its fairly easy to find yourself next to one, and maybe take a look inside. Great quality and a super choice from every one of the outlets you should be visiting.
5. Valyou Supermarket
Naxxar, Mellie?a
One of the newest supermarket franchises on the island, Valyou has already opened its doors to two different locations supermarkets. As they like to say, these guys are designed with the customer in mind, with quality food, and homeware. Go on, take a visit.
6. PAMA
Mosta
Pama has literally become a shopping village. It’s huge, and parking is certainly not a problem. With one of the biggest supermarkets in Malta surrounded by all of your favourite restaurants and clothing outfits like Zen Sushi, and Urban Jungle, be aware that you can easily spend literally a whole day wondering around.
7. LIDL
Mosta, Qormi, Santa Venera, San ?wann, Luqa, ?ejtun, Safi, Rabat (Gozo)
There was no way we weren’t going to mention this giant.
With eight stores and more than 300 employees, some might go so far as to call LIDL our national supermarket. Others may rub their noses and snivel at it, but all we know is that, 10 years later, when there’s a crazy offer, you better be ready for some Black Friday-style chaos.
