8 Top Tasting Menus In Malta To Tantalise Your Tastebuds

We have a huge soft spot and major love for tasting and degustation menus, and Malta sure knows how to satisfy our taste buds.
It’s is the epitome of classy dining, and it’s the best way to try a bit of everything from the menu. We love a long drawn-out meal and quite frankly, sometimes… two/three courses just isn’t enough.
Here are just some of the tasting menus we’ve loved or have our eyes on in Malta (and ones we think you should too).
1. Rocksalt
St Julian’s

Indulge in a five (€65) or nine course (€95) tasting menu with items such as truffled beef tartare, cured foie gras, tail of monkfish, lamp rump, herb crusted sirloin and more.

2. Buddhamann
St Julian’s

There are actually three types of tasting menus on offer at the luxurious Buddhamann.
The Namaste menu which is priced at €55 for eight courses offers items such as flamed seared cuts of tuna, Peking duck and local black bream.
The Preeda menu offers 10 courses at €65 with delights such as boneless Tandoori quail, lamb tenderloin and Blue tiger prawn tempura.
Sturgeon caviar, sea bass ceviche and smoked king mushrooms are just some of the dishes on the fancy €85 a head menu named Geisha.

3. The Pulled Meat Company
Valletta

This seven-course pork-focused tasting menu costs only €40 per person. Expect dishes such as linguini with pork ragu, local pork belly rib, a duo of pork sausages, pork flank and more.

4. Hammett’s Maċina
Senglea

Hammett’s degustation menu is five courses of creative cuisine. Aesthetically-pleasing dishes such as wild grouper carpaccio, lamp rump or saffron risotto is what you’ll feast on.

5. The Lord Nelson Restaurant
Mosta

This award-winning fine dining institution needs no intro.
If you can’t decide what to order from their menu, fear not because you can pick six dishes and have it prepared into a tasting menu (priced at €60).
Expect dishes such as smoked pork belly, prawn and crab raviolino, salt and pepper octopus, kangaroo fillets to name a few.

6. Runway
Luqa

Runway is part of ITS and is run entirely by students and their lecturers.
The menu changes every week (so every time you visit it’s practically a new experience) and you can expect excellent tasting menus of professional quality at €17 (we kid you not).
It is only open for dinner on Tuesday evenings and booking in advance is highly recommended.

7. Capo Crudo
Valletta

We still can’t get enough of Capo Crudo’s new Saturday lunch menu where you get six exemplary courses for only… €25.
You get veal sweetbreads, swordfish carpaccio, vongole and more.
8. Caviar & Bull
St Julian’s

The ever-so-popular Caviar & Bull offers two tasting menus that are equally decadent but differ slightly in style.
The Contemporary menu is priced at €60 for seven courses and a choice of desserts. Indulge in dishes like wagyu beef carpaccio, tiger prawn tempura and lobster & prawn tortellini.
The Cosmopolitan degustation menu offers some of truffle flavoured reconstructed mushrooms, langoustine, foie gras and more.
