Forget everything you thought you knew about history’s biggest dilemmas. There’s only one that really counts as far as Malta’s concerned, and it’s a waging online battle on food, of course.

It’s been a hard-fought couple of weeks for the most beloved packets on the island, thanks to a tournament on popular Facebook forum The Salott aptly named Malta’s Favourite Snack. We had already come to a conclusion on these traditional beauts two years ago when we rated packets from worst to best, but it looks like people still have very strong feelings about this.

Ella Lautier, the mastermind behind the online carnage, designed a tournament which features 16 of the most popular snack packets in Malta, split into two sections of eight. These were then split into four groupings of two packets each.

Each round pitted one packet against another, with voters usually given around 24 hours to vote by ‘liking’ a specific emoji (mostly a matter of ‘Haha’ versus ‘Wow’).

Now, we’ve finally arrived at the final round, and it really is a battle of the giants

Now a lot of us might’ve seen a Krips vs Twistees final coming from a mile away, but that has not made the battle any tougher.

Indeed, with barely an hour in, the post had already gotten well over 2,000 votes, and it’s as tight as it gets. At the time of writing, they both literally have 1.4K votes each… and yes, I did vote for Krips because everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you voted for Twistees you’re just wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Voting ends at noon on Thursday (that’s tomorrow), so if you still haven’t voted yet, this is your moment (and this is the place).
