Brunch Is Over! Here’s Where To Grab ‘Linner’ In Malta, The Next Big Trend
The past five years have seen brunch firmly secure itself as the most important meal of the day, at least socially. But trends come and go as time wears on, and the final nail has been delivered to brunch by none other than global superstar, Mariah Carey.
But as we learnt from The Lion King, it’s all about the circle of life. And the death of Brunch brings with it the birth of Linner (aka a late dinner).
So here are 7 restaurants in Malta perfect for Linne. The cut off point for ‘late’ was staying open after midnight.
1. Is-Suq Tal-Belt
The newly opened food court has caused quite the stir online, but when we called to ask the team explained that while the market stalls may close earlier, restaurants are open till 12:30.
2. Estilo
A popular 24-hour restaurant (probably because it’s one of the only 24-hour restaurants) Estilo is a great place to grab a late linner. Plus, they deliver, so even lazy late linner is an option.
3. Crystal Palace
A cosier space and a favourite of the island, Crystal Palace (tas-serkin) may only serve pastizzi throughout the night, but if you add in a té fit-tazza, you don’t really need much else.
4. Sofra
If you’re looking for a meal with a bit more of an after-a-heavy-night vibe, then Sofra’s Kebab is a must. Buġibba and Żebbuġ each have their own late-night Sofras. Who doesn’t love a bit of Turkish for linner?
5. Hugo’s Burger
This Paceville burger joint serves up delicious patties with equally-lauded side sauces throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning. A heavy linner, but a strong choice nonetheless.
6. Paceville kiosks
At any given point (particularly during the weekend) you’ll find several kiosks scattered across Paceville open and ready to solve all your linner issues. From Luke’s to Eat Me I’m Famous, you’re covered for pizza, pasta and everything in between.
7. Drive-thru
If you’re looking for linner on-the-go, or linner in your car with a nice view then Burger King, McDonald’s or KFC’s drive-thru is a good option for you (although we’re not sure fast food would be Mariah-approved)
