In Malta, we sure do love some proper Italian food – just don’t tell the Italians that some of us still put peas in our carbonara…

We are lucky to have neighbours with such good taste in food and their proximity has definitely influenced us.

One of the high points of the Italian gastronomic experience is the wide variety of the regional variations which can only be experienced authentically in the actual country.

Luckily for us, in Malta we have several exponents who provide excellent traditional and contemporary examples of Italian food.

1. Trattoria ‘a Lanterna cucina Ligure, Buġibba

Liguria is a seaside region in the North-West of Italy. It is mostly famous for the invention of Pesto, and its matching pasta, Trofie.
