Burger King Launches Investigation Addressing The Vegan Mix-Up Incident
Burger King has issued an apology after a few customers were served actual chicken instead of the vegan alternative.
“At Burger King we pride ourselves on the quality of the products and services we offer, which is reflected by very rigorous standards and procedures on how we handle Plant-Based products,” the establishment’s Instagram page commented under a post by Greenie.mt which first reported on the story.
This all came up after a vegan woman complained she was given a Chicken Royale instead of their Plant-Based one at their Mosta branch.
Burger King said that a further investigation will take place.
“Learning when these standards are not reached is extremely concerning…” the food company continued. “We are currently in touch with the customer who posted the message, and we would like to assure you that we have launched an internal investigation as to the cause of this complaint. All necessary measures and actions will be taken to ensure there is no recurrence.”

The Greenie.mt post revealed that when the woman called customer service, they allegedly told her that the Plant-Based patty was out of stock… and many within the vegan community are not happy about it.
“This is extremely disappointing and gross. I genuinely enjoyed their plant-based whopper. Now not sure I can trust them in not swapping it for the meat version when ‘they run out of stock,” another one continued.
“People should not trust these mass-butchering companies in the first place! We should not give them one cent until they turn 100% plant based,” another vegan Instagram user commented.
And others have reached out to Lovin Malta, stating that the same thing has happened to them.
Many are claiming that they’ve accidentally bitten into actual chicken nuggets or burgers plenty of times, when they would have ordered the vegan alternative.
