A recently opened Sri Lankan restaurant in Mosta has been “overwhelmed” with orders after receiving rave reviews online.

Carit Desira, who runs the restaurant with her husband Mahendra, posted:

“Hi all… I am the owner of Cade in Mosta. I am extremely grateful for the beautiful review which was posted yesterday. Today, we had a lot of customers and we got overwhelmed.”

The original review said “it is genuine Sri Lanka cuisine where everything is homemade (even simple things such as Mayonnaise). The service was excellent, the portions were very decent and the prices were reasonable. Above all, the food was impeccable.”

For Carit, the positive reviews mean everything – indeed, she promises to take diners to “Sri Lanka and back in two hours”.

“I would like to thank all the customers who gave us a chance and came to try our food. I am extremely grateful and I thank everyone who came to visit us tonight and patiently waited for the food.”

“I do hope that our service will remain at its best to serve you…”

Cade seems to be making an impression as it also received a glowing review from Who’s Who, where it is described as ” an authentic offering that will transport you to the South Asian island.”

Desira is a Maltese ITS graduate who met her husband Mahendra while working in London. They did a stint of six years in Sri Lanka where she lectured in an Australian hospitality college.

On their return to Malta they found that thousands of Sri Lankans and other South Asians had moved here and the time was ripe to open a Sri Lankan restaurant.

“Sri Lankans cannot find such a wide range of their traditional dishes anywhere else,” Desira said, “so it has become a place of belonging for the community.”
