Corinthia Malta’s Team Joins Top UK Chefs To Raise Funds For Leukaemia Research

Corinthia’s culinary team in Malta joined 20 of the world’s most accomplished and innovative chefs to raise funds for Leukaemia earlier this week.
MasterChef Francesco Mazzei, who is currently conducting a 6-month kitchen residency at Villa Corinthia in Attard, and Corinthia Palace’s executive chef Stefan Hogan helped raise €270,000 at this year’s instalment of ‘Who’s Cooking Dinner?’, a one-of-a-kind night of food and fundraising.
“Eight years ago I lost my father to leukaemia, so this is a cause really close to my heart. Leukaemia UK funds life-changing research that can make a real difference to the lives of those who receive this devastating diagnosis,” said Mazzei, who is a Leukaemia UK Ambassador.
Mazzei is a leading chef and global ambassador of Calabrian cuisine with award-winning restaurants in London and beyond. Corinthia Palace were thrilled to join forces with some of the best culinary stars in the world to help raise funds for such a worthy cause.

Established in 1999 by Chris Corbin OBE, co-owner of some of London’s most iconic restaurants, ‘Who’s Cooking Dinner?’ has raised over £7 million for ground-breaking research to stop Leukaemia devastating lives.
This year, household names including triple Michelin star holder Tom Kerridge, up-and-coming kitchen stars like Imogen Davis of “wild food” restaurant Native and The chefs behind Heston Blumenthal’s celebrated eatery The Fat Duck, met at London’s first and foremost charity culinary event to raise funds for life-changing Leukaemia research.
The event saw 20 tables of 10 guests gather at The Dorchester, Park Lane, for a champagne reception, before a random “chef prize draw” pairs esteemed cooks with their diners – meaning no guest knows which chef will cook for them until that evening.
Hosted by award-winning food writer and TV personality, Gizzi Erskine, 200 guests were treated to mouth-watering four-course menus. Each chef donates their ingredients, materials and time free of charge, so 100% of funds raised go directly to Leukaemia UK.
Previous alumni of ‘Who’s Cooking Dinner?’ include Rick Stein, Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, and Angela Harnett. Fiona Hazell, Chief Executive of Leukaemia UK, said: “At Leukaemia UK, we know that research has the power to stop leukaemia devastating lives – and investing in research wouldn’t be possible without the funds that we’ve raised tonight.”

Throughout the rest of the year, the chef and his culinary team, led by Chef Petullà will be hand making fresh pasta, creating rustic Calbrian seafood dishes, and original twists on Italian classics, like their slow-cooked Octopus ragú at Villa Corinthia.
