Malta and Gozo’s top rated restaurants were celebrated at this year’s Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants Awards Ceremony, held on 8th December at the Grand Hotel Excelsior.

Supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, Global Payments and the Malta Food Agency, the ceremony honoured the highest scoring restaurants as voted by diners who took part in the annual Malta and Gozo Restaurant Survey on restaurantsmalta.com.

Only 150 restaurants made it into the 2026 edition of the guide, which showcases the top establishments across the islands.

This year, de Mondion claimed the title of Top Overall Restaurant for 2026.

The awards were presented by Malta Tourism Authority CEO Carlo Micallef, representatives from Global Payments and the Malta Food Agency, and Mark Ciantar of Continental Purchasing on behalf of Schonwald, who supplied the commemorative award plates.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Foreign Affairs Ian Borg addressed guests, while the results were announced by Lisa Grech, Managing Director of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co.

The 2025 restaurant survey saw strong participation, with 3703 respondents who dined out on average one to two times a week, amounting to nearly 289,000 dining experiences over a year. The new guide also includes forty five new entries.

EcoCook Malta, the first sustainable certification for restaurants in Malta and Gozo, also presented trophies to its first certified restaurants: Caviar and Bull, de Mondion and Hammett’s Monastik.

The 2026 edition of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta and Gozo is now available online for eight euro at restaurantsmalta.com and in leading stationers and bookshops across the islands.
