‘Today Is A Sad Day’: Beloved South Indian Eatery Tuk Tuk Permanently Closes Valletta Branch

Marking the end of an era for lovers of South Indian food who find themselves in Malta’s capital, TukTuk has just announced the permanent closure of its Valletta branch.

“After 12 years, this was surely not an easy decision, but was forced upon us in order to survive,” the popular eatery said on Facebook earlier today. “Today is a sad day for us.”

While TukTuk had been working hard in the past months to deliver its signature delicious dishes to the nation amidst a global pandemic, things seem to have unfortunately finally caught up with their Valletta restaurant.

“In the last few months at TukTuk we have been working hard to ensure we keep our operations ongoing, keep you fed and keep our staff employed,” the heartbreaking status continued. “However with the recent economic conditions due to Covid-19, we have had to make the unfortunate decision to shut our Valletta kitchen.”

Thankfully, you can still enjoy TukTuk’s amazing South Indian cousine at their St. Julian’s eat-in branch inside Carob Tree… and through their online delivery, of course.

“So next time you feel guilty for tucking into some street food nibbles, a korma with some naan, a dosa, a naanwich or a dum style biryani – just remember that you are supporting a local business and the people that run it,” TukTuk said, going on to thank everyone for the immense support they had received.
