From Wardija To Rabat: EU Funding Drives Produce Supplier’s Growth
A local fruit and vegetable supplier has expanded its operations thanks to EU funding that helped turn a small family business into a more efficient and sustainable enterprise.
FNG Supplies Co. Ltd, one of Malta’s top importers of fruit and vegetables supplying restaurants, hotels, and catering companies, recently opened its new facility in Rabat after receiving around €100,000 in EU funds through the Business Enhance scheme.
With this support, the company invested about €200,000 to move from Wardija to a larger, upgraded space that includes brand new cold rooms, electric lifters, stackers, and improved warehouse infrastructure — all aimed at keeping produce fresher for longer and making day-to-day operations more efficient.
The Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, and SEM CEO Rodrick Zerafa visited the new facility to see first-hand how EU funding is helping local businesses thrive.
Through guidance and support from Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM), small and medium enterprises like FNG Supplies Co. Ltd are able to access opportunities that lead to real growth, innovation, and better service for customers across Malta.
