Malta’s foodie game has really stepped up a notch over the last few years, but one dish that’s been missing from the island is the Canadian classic, Poutine.
Fortunately for us here, OIA Gastro Bar just opened up in Paceville Street, and it’s offering some super intriguing dishes that haven’t been seen around the island before.
I’m talking the aforementioned cheesy, gravy-licious skin-on poutine, but I’m also referring to their sous-vide meats and bacon-infused Bloody Marys. With OIA’s slogan being ‘Be Bold Try Something Different’, their menu does live up to the hype.
The authentic gravy dripping over the fresh poutine is nearly certainly going to create the perfect crispy while wet chip
But the spinach gnocchi with homemade walnut and basil pesto provides a vegetarian alternative for people not feeling the gravy
And forget pizza – order yourself a Scrocchiarella, which is a rustic, light, Roman take on a classic form of pizza
The juice dripping from the Tandoori duck breast speaks for itself
And let’s not get started on the 24-hour sous vide pork belly…
It’s not just the food – they’ve got a special range of drinks suited for every taste.
You can grab a Bloody Mary with bacon-infused vodka, or you can grab a chia and lime lemonade – there’s something for everyone.
