Breathtaking New Restaurant In Balluta You Must Try ASAP

Article Featured Image

Balluta Bay has its fair share of great places to eat: Electro Lobster Project, Fre(n)sh, The Villa, Barracuda and Wigi’s Kitchen to name just a few. But there’s an awesome new place to add to that list and it must be tried to be believed.

Taro is situated within the five-star Le Méridien St Julian’s Hotel & Spa. It’s also the sort of place that gets its food absolutely right. From oxtail agnolotti to prawn and preserved lemon tortelloni, as well as the most tender rabbit leg you’ll ever taste in your life, this is the sort of place you take someone when you’re looking to impress.

The restaurant also has a secluded private dining space for really important dinners where you really can’t afford to have any other patrons ruining your entertainment.

Adjacent to the main lobby of the hotel, Taro replaces KuDeTa, the restaurant which formerly occupied the same space. The kitchen staff has also been overhauled, with top chef Adrian Buttigieg leading the brigade, along with cocktail master Rodney Pisani serving up some delicious varieties.

Mr Buttigieg, 29, worked in Luxembourg under Michelin-star chef Cyril Molard and has brought his experience to Malta to get really creative.

Mr Pisani, who is also the president of the Malta Bartenders Guild, runs the nearby molecular bar serving classic cocktails and gorgeous twists. You’re gonna want to try gin infused with dried roses or tea.

The changes at Le Méridien were spearheaded by the new hotel general manager Alex Incorvaja, who joined a few months ago after a six-year stint in London where he headed the office of the Malta Tourism Authority. He partnered up with operations director Neal Debono, formerly of the Grand Hotel Excelsior.

“We’re extremely proud to have such a creative and passionate team on board to provide guests with a unique, alternative dining experience,” Mr Incorvaja told Lovin Malta.

And in case you’re still in doubt, dip your imagination into this crumble.
