Nominations for the fourth edition of Lovin Recommends closed late last week, however the public’s demand to see their cherished spots, old and new, make the list was overwhelming.

As we sift through the nominations, there is no doubt that a hunger for restaurant outings is back (pun definitely intended).

We may have lost some foodie faces while the local industry is still recovering from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but we’ve also experienced the rebirth of age-old staples, as well as several all-new eating and drinking concepts sprouting up across Malta and the sister island of Gozo.

The question remains: which spots will be making the exclusive Lovin Recommends 2022 list… will it be the cutting-edge molecular gastronomy joints? Will we be seeing Malta and Gozo’s growing vegetarian and vegan specialised restaurants coming out on top? Or will we be celebrating a return to seasonal and traditional dishes and ingredients?
