Malta Is Getting Its First Filipino Bakery And Our Mouths Are Already Drooling
A new kind of flavour is about to hit Malta’s shores, with the island’s first ever Filipino bakery set to open in the heart of Valletta.
Panaderia is the brainchild of Pinoy Street Food, a Filipino restaurant which has won the hearts and stomachs of many a hungry customer.
It will open at Is-Suq tal-Belt, where Pinoy has been based since relocating from Marsaskala.
And while its menu hasn’t been revealed yet, the Philippines is renowned for its breads and pastries.
Traditional savoury items include the humble Pandesal bread rolls, Siopao, steamed buns stuffed with pork, beef, shrimp or salted duck egg, and Empanada, fried dough folded over meat, cheese and other ingredients.
Sweeter dishes include pan de coco (coconut bread) and Ensaymade, sweet pillowy buns covered with an ample amount of grated cheese.
Pinoy has already introduced Malta to some unique dishes, such as grilled chicken feet, hard-boiled quail eggs and pig blood stew, and they’re constantly keeping things fresh with monthly special dishes.
They’re now about to take things a step further, and we honestly can’t wait!
