Mellieħa Pizzeria Organises Thank You Meal For CPD Rescuers Who Responded To Turkey Earthquake
A Mellieħa restaurant organised a meal for CPD rescuers who recently travelled to Turkey to help respond to a deadly earthquake.
“We felt we had to organise a meal for these CPD workers who left their families behind to help search for victims of the Turkey earthquake,” Bayleaves Pizzeria and Restaurant said.
“We did this as a small gesture of thanks for the work they carried out overseas in the most brutal of elements. We thank you for your work from the bottom of our hearts, well done for your dedication and commitment.”
Mellieħa mayor Dario Vella was also present at the meal.
A few hours after an earthquake ripped through Turkey and Syria earlier this month, Malta responded to Turkey’s call for assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
32 CPD officers and a search and rescue dog travelled to eastern city of Malatya and managed to recover 18 bodies from the rubble.
