Migrant Women Crowdfund Over €30,000 To Set Up Authentic Ethnic Food Truck In Malta
A group of migrant women chefs have defied the odds and successfully crowdfunded over €35,000 to set up a food truck serving delicious ethnic food from the Maghreb and the Middle East.
Saha!, a culinary initiative of the Migrant Women Association Malta, have been cooking and serving ethnic food at several events across Malta in the past few years, notably at the World Music Festival. They won the public choice award at last year’s Social Impact Awards and recently launched their own cooking show on NET TV.
Now, thanks to the generosity of the public, they will also purchase a van from which they will sell sweet and savoury dishes from across Morocco, Libya and Syria.
“What can we say? THANK YOU, Grazzi, شكرا, Merci, Grazie to ALL of you that donated!” the Migrant Women Association said. “We are completely blown away by your support – we managed to fundraise over €34,000 for our food truck! And better news still, thanks to everyone we are about to buy the truck!! Stay tuned for more news, SAHA is coming your way!”
