New Iranian Restaurant To Host Blowout Pride Bonanza
A recently opened Persian restaurant will be staging the ultimate feast to celebrate Gay Pride in Malta.
Shafa, in Xemxija, is the island’s very first restaurant specialising in Persian cuisine. Their extensive menu is the stuff of Iranian dreams, with vast options for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans alike. It’s barely been open a month, and they’ve already won over the hearts of veggies from all across Malta!
That’s not to say they don’t have something for everyone; their menu boasts a mouth watering selection of the very best Iran has to offer. Think slow cooked aubergine, homemade yoghurt, tender lamb shanks and saffron rice. And if chargrilled chicken kebabs with bone oil and lime juice aren’t your thing, then they’ve got a rainbow vegetable skewer with your name on it. Veggie dishes are prepared separately, and you can “veganize” most dishes, such as the Dizi Abghoost, which is a slow cooked aromatic Persian stew of garlicky chickpeas and potatoes with fresh herbs.
To celebrate Pride on this historical year for Malta, Shafa are preparing to host a fabulous evening of delicious food and dazzling entertainment– in the form of James “Mercury” Mifsud- our answer to the late legend Freddie, and the most famous tribute artist on the island.
From what we’ve seen so far from Mercury Mifsud, diners are in for a treat. His shows always pull in the crowds, and seating is limited so it’s best to book early.
It’s interesting to note that Queen’s frontman, an iconic figure for millions across the globe was actually of Parisi descent. His real name was Farrokh. We think this makes this awesome (and thoughtful) event even more spectacular. We salute you Shafa!
