Time is money – but in the current climate, spending more money on food than we ever used to, shopping around for competitive prices can take up too much of your free time.

Luckily for us here in Malta, a new web application is about to change all that, pushing for a new, sustainable movement that will save you money in the tastiest way possible.

Offering fresh food and meals at half price, eatforless.mt will help you save money and contribute towards reducing the problem of food waste on the island – and it launches on 25th September!

What is Eat For Less?

The brainchild of Adrian Balzan, this web application aims to connect businesses operating in the food sector with consumers interested in getting great deals on their food.

Shops, restaurants and suppliers are all working with products that have a shelf life. As produce gets closer its expiration date, it becomes less likely to get sold, even though it remains edible.

Unfortunately, this food normally gets thrown away. So why not sell it at half price before it expires? That’s the main idea behind eatforless.mt

When so many people are struggling to put food on the table, wasting good food is no longer acceptable. Coupled with the added strain on the planet, the time was ripe to provide a solution to this issue – and eatforless.mt has found a way to do that.

How does it work?

Daily offers are posted onto the eatforless.mt web page.

These range from fruit and vegetables and fresh food items to combo meals and pantry staples. Consumers can browse the site according to their locality and see what’s on offer. After deciding what deals to take they go to their chosen vendor to make a purchase showing the deal on the app to benefit from the discount.

In keeping with their values, eatforless.mt does not offer delivery. The company wants to promote a healthier and more sustainable way of life, encouraging consumers to walk to their local outlets. More exercise, less cars and great deals at the end of it – a win/win for everybody!

Help us help!

Eatforless.mt are looking to grow their community of suppliers and consumers – and you can be a part of this exciting new movement. The hearts and minds behind this venture are appealing for support while they grow this idea. It needs time to develop into a robust platform so a little bit of patience and every little purchase helps!

Download the app and tell your friends and family to do the same. Tell your local shops to get involved and suggest it to your favourite eateries. The more people get involved the more you save! And the fight against food waste gets stronger.
