Oh Buoy! Australian Twists On Malta’s Favourite Foods Have Landed In Spinola

Spinola Bay is fast becoming a global hub of cuisines, from local dishes being served in homegrown kitchens to sushi bars, Sicilian prosciuterias, American-style meat houses and now an Australian-garnished locally-run restaurant bound to make any Maltese want to have jumped the immigration bandwagon of the 50s and any Australian living in Malta feel right at home.
Spinola’s Two Buoys needs a light shone on some of their to-die-for menu options

Like their turmeric poached pear served on their in-house muesli blend with fresh fruit slices layered over and a coconut yoghurt.
With an Australian influence, being driven behind from one of the three friends who run the joint, they’re offering up breakfast classics like an egg on toast (choose from scrambled, fried or poached) which you can upgrade with all the extras you could ever imagine like bacon, spinach and even the hipster favourite, avocado.

Breakfast isn’t all they do though
They’ve got breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails, milkshakes and basically everything but the kitchen sink. We are strapped down in our seats waiting for the next cheeky addition to their endless list of delicacies.
Their kids menu is in a constant rotation so no matter how long your addiction to this place lasts, you can guarantee that the young ‘uns will never be bored of the same old margherita pizza.

Who needs a play area when your kids will be distracted by some sticky AF ribs?

Fish and chips? We’re sold.
A British classic with an Aussie twist sounds about as moreish as a joke that starts with “an Australian walks into a bar…”
As well as some absolutely exquisite dishes, Two Buoys is situated right at the edge, overlooking the waters of Spinola Bay, so you’ll be able to bask in a glorious view all the while feasting on some mouthwatering meals.

Yes, that is everyone’s favourite fenek moqli.
And they even stay true to their Maltese roots and followed their bloodline to Mġarr, where they source all of their potatoes from.
The kitchen closes daily from 3pm to 6pm, leaving anyone left over from their brunch to sip on some totally quiche cocktails before deciding whether or not to remain there for the foreseeable future (and they would be mad not to, really).
For those of us not in the know when it comes to Aussie slang, quiche is a term used when something is better than hot. That is literally the definition.
Launching their official (unofficial) opening party this weekend, Two Buoys needs to be on your brunch bucket list (or any list involving food) before they rack up the reservations and you’re left waiting months for a table.
