Strawberries are one of the most popular (and welcomed) harbingers of spring all around the world, and Malta is definitely no exception. Now, the annual Maltese celebration of all things spring is finally back.
The 13th edition of the ever-so-popular annual Festa Frawli (that’s literally Strawberry Festival) will take place on Sunday 7th April and it’s going to paint the the town – well, village – of Mġarr red!
Farmers and local volunteers will yet again join forces to collectively celebrate and showcase the best of the spring strawberry harvest.
Literally thousands of strawberries are picked, prepared and packed, ready to purchase.
But beyond the tasty red beauties themselves, strawberry jams, desserts, ice-creams, dumplings, smoothies, milkshakes, spring rolls, arancini and pastries will also be on sale.
On the day, there will also be a gin bar serving wine, liquors and cocktails full of the red stuff. And to top it all off, there’ll be a gluten free and vegan stall to cater to everyone.
Entertainment during the festival will come in the form of eco-activities, interactive games, folk bands and DJ Pierre Cordina dropping some tunes.
