From Ramen Curries To Ice Cream Burgers, You Need To Check Out This Valletta Eatery’s Fresh Take On Asian Food

Asian food is on the rise in Malta, but one new little eatery just off St George’s Square in Valletta has put “passion, honesty, respect, and love” at the heart of their food.
Streat Pan Asian is the latest restaurant to open up in Valletta, promising a fresh new take on traditional Thai, Chinese and Asian dishes. Head chef Helfred van Malkenhorst, who lived in Thailand and is fluent in Thai, wanted to bring his vision of “honest and genuine” food, offering everything from tasty meat dishes to vegan-friendly fare.

Situated on the first floor of the City Lounge building, the decor is perfectly zen, with a soft ambience that lends perfectly to Pan Asian’s approach to food

The starter platter offers a mix of flavours

The pretty platter included chicken skewers coated in peanut coconut satay and topped with dry onion, tender beef teriyaki skewers, a thai fish cake made with fresh peach, red curry paste and kaffir lime leaves, curry samosas made with chickpeas and potato, vegetarian spring rolls accompanied with a refreshing herb dip and chilli dip.
And they’ve got a ramen dish for literally everyone

Glass noodles with mixed seafood, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, onion, fresh herbs and lime

Their most popular dish: beef Massaman curry with potatoes, onion, zucchini, peanuts and basil

Vegetarian ramen with cherry tomatoes, green asparagus, soft-tofu, enoki mushrooms, broccoli, lotus root, goji berries and ginger sweets

Pork with fried garlic, pak choi and egg noodles

And the desserts are a modern take on some Asian classics
The banana fritters are practically made of clouds, and the ice-cream burger made with in-house baked bread is as fluffy as it is sweet.

In-house made lemon cake and strawberry cake

The ‘Hot n’ Cool’ Special: Homemade hot buns (chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla) with each ice-cream in side (strawberry, chocolate and vanilla)

Fried banana fritters served with vanilla ice-cream
Apart from the eclectic food, Pan Asian even have their own official ‘joke book’
Diners are encouraged to not only check out all the hilarious, lame (and hilariously lame) jokes in the book, but to also write down their own jokes before leaving the Valletta restaurant.

“A panda walks into a restaurant…”
