RECIPE: Nutella Biscuits And How To Make Them From Scratch

Article Featured Image

Nutella: the cocaine of all spreadable foodstuffs. Nutella and biscuits on the other hand, are absolute heaven. Enter Nutella Biscuits, Ferrero’s latest venture into conquering the biscuit tea-dunking goodness world.

Now, to be fair, the lot of us have been spreading Nutella over our Morning Coffee/Digestives/breadsticks for more than a minute, but now you can do away with the messy planning and just buy a packet from your local supermarket.

That is, unless you decide to make a batch from scratch for yourself. Grab a jar of Nutella, a buttload of patience and switch onto Lovin Malta’s Instagram story: we’re making Nutella biscuits.

Basically Ingredients

To make your homemade version of Nutella biscuits:

  • 1 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup of cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup of confectioner’s sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons of butter
  • a whole jar of Nutella (or more, we don’t judge – much)
Basically Recipe

To kick things off, mix your flour, baking powder and cornstarch into a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine your butter and sugar (ideally with the use of a stand mixer).

Once well mixed, add your vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture and then pour everything into the bowl with the dry ingredients.

A way more professional-looking hand mixer than the one we don’t own

Knead your mixture until you form a ball of dough, and then roll out the dough to a quarter-inch thickness. Using a biscuit-cutter or similar mould, cut out an even number of rounded biscuits, press the back of a fork’s prongs into the biscuits to create fine ridges and then place them on a lined tray.

With your oven preheated to around 180 degrees Celsius, bake the biscuits for around 15 minutes.

Is #NutellaPorn a thing?

Once you’re done baking, let the biscuits cool through on a rack.

With the biscuits at room temperature, dollop on as much Nutella onto one biscuit and sandwich it with another biscuit, and just like that you’ve spent way more time than humanly necessary to make your own Nutella biscuits from start to chocolatey-gooey end.
