Is This The Most Instagrammed Spot In Valletta?

Valletta has #Wanderlust written all over it!

Valletta Feature

Wandering around the streets of Valletta, it’s not hard to see why our Capital makes for a travel photographer’s dream.

There are things to see round every corner- stunning architecture, balconies galore and quirky retro signage are all there to be absorbed by tourists and locals alike. Valletta is also host to a plethora of bars and cafes, many with seating outdoors, giving you the chance to soak up the city whilst enjoying your drink.

You might have already had the pleasure of coming across this picturesque scene in the lower end of St Lucy Street, corner with St Paul’s Street. Just a quick scroll through Instagram confirms that you weren’t the only one to take notice!

"We put the flags up because of Euro 2016 but we kept them up because all tourists are welcome."

The snap-happy spot is home to San Paolo Naufrago, a wine bar that's been in the Carabott family since 1946, when it was run by Vincent Carabott, or "Ċensu tal-cafe", as he was affectionately known.

It's now run by Keith Carabott, who’s responsible for the wonderful outdoor décor of his establishment. Incorporating potted plants along with colourful glass chandeliers that hang above the seating area that spans across the wide, shallow steps, the street bar is certainly one of our Capital’s prettiest.

When the Euros kicked off this year, Mr Carabott adorned the outdoor area with multicoloured flag bunting. It went down so well that he decided to leave it hanging, making for a quintessential Valletta setting just perfect for the online photo sharing platform.

"A lot of people take pictures, yes. It's an amazing street! Especially since it's home to St Lucia church further down the steps from my bar" he tells Lovin Malta.

"We put the flags up because of Euro 2016 but we kept them up because all tourists are welcome."

Even the doggies love it! Hey, instafamous places call for instafamous pooches!
