A top Indian restaurant has partnered up with Maltese Gin brand Islands 8 Gin and London Essence tonics to launch a curry club.

Naan Bar – which was awarded the accolade of Malta’s best restaurant in 2021 – will play host to an exclusive event that is limited to just 50 islanders and will run from 14th December to 8th March.

Tickets are priced at just €40 per head, via EventBrite,  and can be snapped up here.

Restaurateur and third-generation hotelier, Amruda Nair said, “We wanted to create an exciting event that leads diners through a different region of India each month, with specialist gin and tonics made to complement the dishes on offer”.

“There’s a lot of confusion with regards to Indian food, it’s not all just hot and spicy food. There are different ways to cook, seasoning and cooking techniques are vastly different right across India. Our chefs are highly trained and have worked in the top restaurants across India and around the world”.

The ticket price on the evening includes access to Naan Bar’s exclusive chefs menu. There will also be networking opportunities on the evening alongside gin and tonic pairings courtesy of Islands 8 Gin and London Essence Tonics.

The event, which will take place in the restaurant’s hidden basement dining room, will also give diners a variety of herbs and spice seeds to help them cook at home.

Meanwhile, digital content creator, Luke Magro, is set to create an online Indian cooking masterclass via his Instagram, attempting to replicate one of Naan Bar’s award-winning dishes.

Annabel Xuereb, co-founder of Islands 8 Gin, spoke about the event and why they want people to delve deeper into the unexplored areas of their taste buds.

“When I was asked to collaborate with Naan Bar I was really excited as the restaurant has a fantastic reputation. Indian food really is aromatic and is a perfect partner with gin and tonic. And with the weather getting worse, an intimate cosy evening of food and drinks sounds perfect”.

“There are lots of expats who can’t travel home for Christmas this year with the costs of flights rising exponentially. So we’d love for people to come to Naan Bar and consider this a pre-Christmas dinner with a twist”.

The event has been organised by Fonneh – a creative communications and event agency who have worked with international brands such as Eden Mill, International Hotel Group and the UK’s leading gym, Pure Gym to name a few.
