Sliema Is Getting A Gourmet Japanese Burger Eatery In April

Sakura, Sliema’s Japanese restaurant, teased us on Facebook earlier this month with the announcement of a new venture opening right next door and we hope it’s going to be as delicious (or oishii, as they say in Japan) as it sounds.

Ichiban (meaning number one in Japanese) will be bringing gourmet Japanese burgers to Malta in April!

Service wise, it’ll follow the concept of a fast food self-service outlet, but make no mistake… the food offering is promised to be gourmet with authentic flavours and really fresh ingredients.

Diners will be able to sink their teeth into a beef patty made in-house using the finest Wagyu beef. Salmon, chicken, pork and shrimp patties will also be on offer to create exotic burgers.

Spicy kimchi, teriyaki, bulgogi or miso will be burger topping options and fries will come with shichimi (a Japanese aromatic spice mixture) or furikake (a balance of sweet and salty).

To get people even more hyped up, Sakura have actually gone and asked people to help them choose the logo of their new sister restaurant

From the looks of things, we might be looking at the second option being picked up.

Ichiban will be using sustainable recyclable materials and they’re so confident that the burgers will be so juicy, that they’ve installed a sink for you to wash your hands in after your meal.

Arigatou gozaimasu, we can’t wait to for your arrival!
