Special Easter Burger On Traditional Qagħaq Tal-Appostli Bread Rolled Out In Siġġiewi

A Siġġiewi restaurant has rolled out what might be the most Maltese Easter burger in recent years.
For a limited time only, Ferdinand’s Bar and Burger is serving a special Easter meal served on traditional Qagħaq tal-Appostli bread.
Qagħaq tal-Appostli – or Apostle’s bread ring – is a delicious round loaf usually prepared and eaten during Lent.
This traditional Maltese bread has a crunchy exterior shell with gives way to soft insides within. Often, Qagħaq tal-Appostli is adorned with roasted almonds and sesame seeds, but there have been few cases of lining its insides with layers of meat and cheese.
If you’re a fan of bacon, eggs, cheese, beef, cholesterol more generally – and untraditional approaches to Maltese tradition – you may need to get yourself down to Siġġiewi before the end of Easter Sunday, when it will be too late to take on this uniquely festive behemoth.
