Tosca specialize in fresh produce, and with a menu covering anything from pasta and pizza to meats and fish, this Mellieħa restaurant promises a typical Italian dining experience. That's amore.

Valletta's Palazzo Preca has daily fresh fish and seafood specialities, and its culinary team regularly posts behind-the-scenes snaps on the restaurant's Instagram account that really put their collective effort and passion into strong perspective. And if there's that much passion in the kitchen, there's guaranteed to be an extra dose of passion on the table.

One80 has a beautiful terrace with a view of the Mellieħa Parish Church and the surrounding countryside for your romantic dining, but if you'd like to turn it up an intimate notch or two, they've also got an exclusive private area with all the wine you could ever desire.

Mixing Eastern fusion cuisine, the Sliema promenade and the Valletta skyline sounds like a very difficult feat to pull off, but TemptAsian manage to do just that. There's nothing like some exotic flavours to get you in the right romantic mood.

Gozo is the perfect romantic getaway, and while you're there, go for one of the best views on the island. Enter Mġarr's Country Terrace, a restaurant and lounge bar with views of Gozo's Harbour, Comino and Malta in the distance.

This restaurant in Marsascala has a wide variety of food on the menu, but as is to be expected from a Mediterranean-style establishment in the south of Malta, fresh fish is a firm favourite of a lot of Sepia's patrons.

Malta has quite a lot of great places for a delicious plate of meat, a bottle of wine, and a service with a smile. If you want to add a gorgeous view of Valletta from the very tip of Tigne Point, then The Chophouse is what you need to be thinking about.

If you've both had enough of pizza, pasta and meat for a while, then you may want to look into spicing things up a bit. Suruchi, located in the very heart of St. Julian's, offers authentic Indian food, also catering for vegetarian and vegan diets. There are dozens of great Indian restaurants in Malta, but the fact that Suruchi is the one that made it on the list is testament to the good food as much as it is to the romantic atmosphere.

Originally a Norman residence hidden amongst the honeycombed street of Mdina, The Medina Restaurant has been around for enough time to evoke nostalgia amongst different generations of locals. Its natural charm and character and Mdina's romantic streets help propel this restaurant even further up the list.

Corinthia San Ġorġ's Caviar & Bull is a molecular cocktail bar, a champagne bar, an oyster bar, and a good old restaurant. For a special dining experience with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and St. George's Bay, this is the one.

Bacchus is not only located within the walls of the medieval fortification of Mdina, but has also consistently upheld the dim-lit and intimate atmosphere that would have managed to make for a great romantic restaurant a couple of centuries ago. If it's not broke, don't fix.

4. La Buona Trattoria Del Nonno

Introducing that special someone to your family is always a delicate but beautiful experience, especially when the food starts pouring out of the oven. Take that hearty feeling, add a professional slow oven baking cooking process that's stood the test of time, and you've got La Buona Trattoria Del Nonno. You don't even have to feel bad about not washing the dishes after you're done.

There's great Thai food, then there's Blue Elephant. Malta's branch, located in St. Julian's Hilton Hotel, takes fine dining to a whole new level, and is always one of the go-to places for a romantic dinner. Just be sure to make a reservation well ahead of time.

And with a package like that, it also goes without saying that it's one of the most romantic restaurants on the island. Look out for regular proposals; love is definitely in the air in Mdina!
