The Pie-oneers! A Gourmet Pie Joint Is About To Set Up Shop In Mellieħa And We’re Already Waiting In Line
The love for a baked dish of pastry dough is second to none on the Maltese islands and we’re about to get a new addition to the family.
A proper pie restaurant is making its way to Malta and it’s going to take comfort food to the next level.
This isn’t just another pie restaurant. By taking the traditional street food and applying a creative chef’s twist, Bouche is going to be offering gourmet pies at street prices.
Bouche is set to open its doors in Mellieħa over the next couple of weeks but its menu is enough to already make us wait in line.
From an open-top breakfast pie (with your choice of smashed avocado, cut ham or smoked salmon) to the family tradition jerk chicken, Bouche is primed to take over Malta’s pie game by storm and there’s a pie here for everyone…
The Bouchey, The Castro, The Pig ‘N’ Cheese, and The Jerk.
There’s even a camembert cheese, wild mushroom and caramelized onion pie for you vegetarians out there.
Bouche isn’t just a pie shop, it’s a pie-xperience. In true British fashion, Bouche will mimic a modern English warehouse, decorated in a brick and concrete interior, a trendy bar and an open kitchen. It’ll even have British rock and pops anthems playing in the background whilst you dig into a steaming helping of Bouche’s glorious pies.
But perhaps the most British thing of all has to be Bouche’s signature gravy drizzled over that baked godly mess…
That along with mushy peas and mashed potato and you might just have the best pie in the Mediterranean.
But the comfort food galore doesn’t stop there…
On the off chance that mushy peas don’t arouse you, you have the choice of substituting it with a side of home-made mac and cheese. Heck, why not just get both, or even ‘The Full Bouche’?!
And when you’re done with that, you can sink your teeth into some homemade desserts including chocolate brownies, baked cheesecakes, cookies and, of course… dessert pies.
At this point, there’s nothing stopping you from heading over to Bouche in Mellieħa… apart from the fact that the place doesn’t open for another few weeks.
So study the menu and get ready for the launch because pie day is coming.
