He has already developed his own empire in Paceville, and now entrepreneur Hugo Chetcuti has set his eyes on expanding his franchise overseas… and his first target could be Saudi Arabia.

Chetcuti made this off-the-cuff remark during an interview with the Malta Independent, when talking about the future of Hugo’s Burger, the Paceville gourmet burger joint which has proven a hit since its launch three years ago.

“In regards to Hugo’s Burger, yes I am going to branch out round the island I think and we’re going international because it has received much interest,” he was quoted as saying. “The franchise could possibly branch out to Saudi Arabia, one of the places that are interested, but we have had a lot of attention so we will see.”

Apart from the burger joint, the Hugo Group currently also owns a hotel, a nightclub, two lounge bars, a pub, an Italian restaurant, a Middle Eastern restaurant, and an Asian restaurant – all a stone’s throw away from each other.
