Until recently, being gluten intolerant – or even worse, having Coeliac Disease – was a life sentence for many in Malta. It often meant that it was nearly impossible to go out to eat anywhere. Thankfully the tide has turned and many restaurants now offer gluten-free options.

But with choice comes the fear of missing out – and that’s where ‘No Gluten, No Problem‘ comes in.

Founded by Martha Carabott, a Maltese woman diagnosed with Coeliac Disease at the age of five, the page aims to provide people whose body isn’t a fan of gluten with an eat-out option.

The page points out that in these restaurants there is a chance of cross-contamination of food, and wants the audience to be aware of that, but Martha also hopes her page will give people the choice they sometimes feel they don’t have.

“I had to start making changes to my diet at the age of five,” Martha tells Lovin Malta, “my mom, who has been my backbone since day one, helped me through the whole process. It’s not always easy, but I’ve been on a gluten-free diet for 17 years.”
