This Stylish Mosta Restaurant Inside A Townhouse Is Redefining Luxurious Gastronomy

The Lord Nelson is one of the most well-known and respectable restaurants in Central Malta. Situated right at the mouth of a forked street, it’s unassuming location distracts from the prestige and high-level of delicacy that can be found behind the doors of this Mosta townhouse.
The restaurant has recently been taken over by new management who have revamped their menu and wine list, and it’s impressive to say the least. Their menu is set to keep to the very high standard Lord Nelson is known for, especially if their recent tasting menu is anything to go by.

Three little pigs
Pork served in three delicious and different ways housed in a little pastry house is a tasty first course any day of the week. A piece of pork belly with some crackling on top, an awesome sausage, and a creamy croquette made up the trio, and they offered a fatty and fabulous adventure into the porcine realm.

Duck ravioli
The part of this dish that really set it off was the use of little bits of crispy duck skin flaked all over the duck-stuffed ravioli. It melted in with the sauce to create, along with the seared fruit, quite the delicious dish. If you like duck and ravioli, order this dish ASAP.

Duo of lamb
This dish was really interesting. The rump of lamb had been cooked sous vide for 24 hours. The texture was like butter, and was quite akin to a tender piece of fillet.
The lamb sausage had a much more Mediterranean lamb flavour, with herbs and spices to accentuate the lamb’s flavour.

Blackberry mousse with pistachio sponge and white chocolate
The team at the Lord Nelson guided us through the long and convoluted process to create this pistachio sponge, but boy was it worth it. The super soft, sweet and tangy blackberry mousse was tempered with the white chocolate swirls, and there was a side of granola for a bit of extra crunch, if you wanted.

Not to be forgotten is the superb wine list, with some beautiful Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. The service is thoroughly attentive without being overbearing, and the chefs were happy to explain some of their tricks in the kitchen.
The new management seems to be steering the Lord Nelson on the right path, keeping its standards high and its food adventurous and classy. Come here if you are looking for the perfect date spot, fine dining experience, or you just want a really good meal.
