The Irish influence in Malta doesn’t get any better than St Patrick’s Day… or does it? The Hatter, in Gżira, has all the bells and whistles of an authentic Irish pub and some questionable wall decor, too.

No, you’re not seeing things. Instead of the traditional clovers lining their walls, those are in fact weed leaves and they are unapologetically obvious.

But that isn’t the only attraction to this place. Their friendly service and awesome menus are the cherry on top of this Irish cream cake.

They’ve got a special ‘surger’ of Guinness which is basically an electronic plate that gives your beer the real-deal foam head, enough to make St Paddy himself proud.

Their signature beers, stouts and IPAs will leave your spoilt for choice and if you just fancy feeling spoilt, try one of their many gins on offer – they come with a free mixer.

Not only does this pub serve some awesome cocktails and pale ales, but their food is equally as inviting as the smiles on the faces of their waiting staff.

The Hatter also have special events and offers on pretty much every night.

Whether it’s Thirsty Thursday (offering specials on beer pitchers between 3pm and 7pm), Trivia Mondays or their live Celtic bands performing, there’s something for everyone on any day of the week.

They’ve only been open for a few months, but they’re already garnering a regular customer base and it doesn’t take much to see why.

Gżira, your new local watering hole has arrived in the form of this pot of gold pub, not at the end of the rainbow but at the end of Triq Gerry Zammit.

Tag an Irish friend who lives in Malta and share this awesome pub with your drinking buddies!
