Malta’s farmers have joined an ongoing Europe-wide protest today, leaving from Ta’ Qali moments ago in what will be a 12-kilometre protest convoy driving straight to Floriana.

Farmers all across the European Union have said they are currently facing falling sale prices, rising costs, heavy regulation, powerful domineering retailers, debt, climate change and cheap foreign imports… prompting protests in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Romania.

The European Parliament will discuss the situation of European farmers under the title of ‘Empowering farmers and rural communities – a dialogue towards sustainable and fairly rewarded EU agriculture next week.
