Local pizzeria Salumeria Gardens have been ranked among the top 100 pizzas in the world.

The St Julian’s pizzeria was ranked number 98 by the coveted Top100 Pizza awards held in Milan on Wednesday night.

Salumeria Gardens is the first Maltese restaurant to make the list – which is considered the most prestigious in the global pizza scene.

Commenting on the listing, Salumeria Gardens founders Pablo and Max Kuilboer said:
“We’re incredibly proud to represent Malta on the world stage. Being named among the top 100 pizzerias globally is beyond our wildest expectations.”

“It’s a testament to our team’s passion, hard work, and belief that great pizza can come from anywhere, even a small island in the Mediterranean.”

The annual awards ceremony sees the greatest pizza chefs in the world ranked and celebrated. It also spotlights a global community of pizza chefs with new awards, pioneering voices, and a fresh look at pizza’s evolving legacy.

The Best Pizza Awards brings together over 500 international guests, including more than 300 of the world’s top pizza chefs, journalists, and gastronomic innovators, for an immersive celebration of pizza’s past, present, and future.
The awards’ independent global voting panel, comprising 512 experts from 60 countries, ensures transparency and excellence, eliminating commercial influence and giving chefs the final say.

“The Best Pizza Awards is about more than rankings. It’s about uniting a global community that shares a deep respect for tradition and an appetite for innovation,” says Cristian Gadau, co-founder of The Best Chef and The Best Pizza Awards.

“That’s why we’re proud to introduce Pizza Talks, a platform for thought-provoking conversations with culinary trailblazers like Gabriele Bonci and Francesco Martucci, as well as special guest Eduard Xatruch of the avant-garde restaurant Disfrutar. They’ll be joined by a lineup of visionary speakers who will ignite dynamic discussions across the past, present, and future of pizza.”
