Malta’s iconic cheesy snack Twistees just made an appearance on none other than the UK’s viral Spudman TikTok page.
The man behind the potatoes is Ben Newman, owner of the wildly popular street food truck known for serving up jacket potatoes with endless topping combos. With 4.2 million TikTok followers and over 600,000 on Instagram, Spudman has built a loyal community of spud-lovers who queue up daily for a bite of the action.
In a recent video, a Maltese tourist stopped by Spudman’s truck in Tamworth, after travelling an hour and a half just for the experience and came bearing gifts.
“All the way from Malta, what do you have for me? Twistees? I’ve never heard of these but we’ve got to try some,” Newman said in the clip.After taking a bite, Spudman was sold, saying he’d “share the ones you gave me with everyone.”
Since starting his social media accounts, Newman has created a community of spud-lovers who queue up for a taste of the viral jacket potato with very generous servings.
Spudman sometimes gives off spuds for free through little competitions held on site or even because the workers wanted to give back to their amazing community.The Maltese fan said he planned to continue his trip to Manchester after the ultimate UK food stop.
