Where To Get A Midnight Christmas Breakfast In Malta This Year
The Maltese are big on their traditions and one of our faves is the popular post-midnight mass breakfasts on Christmas Day.
Eating a gourmet breakfast right after mass is a sure way to officially start Jesus’ birthday in style (and with a food coma).
Here are some Maltese joints that’ll be serving up late night brekky on the 25th.
1. Crust
St. Julian’s
Enjoy their scrumptious signature breakfast dishes till 2am. It’s not a crusty way to start your Christmas Day!
2. Cafe Cuba
St. Julian’s, Sliema, Mosta
Once the clock strikes 12, run to Cafe Cuba to indulge in a €11.50 full English brekkie (fried eggs, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, pork sausages, baked beans, slow cooked ham and hash browns).
There will also be a veggie option!
3. Castelletti Restaurant
Rabat
Pig out on a luxury Christmas breakfast buffet featuring tons of dishes such as smoked salmon, smoked ham, salami, parma ham, Edam cheese, brie from the cold cuts section.
There’ll be a selection of hot plates including roast gammon glazed with honey and grin mustard, scrambled eggs, grilled bacon, pork sausages, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, fried mushrooms, local speciality cheese cakes, pea cakes, potato hash brown.
The menu starts at 1am on Xmas Day and is priced at €24.50 per person.
4. Fra Martino @ The Corinthia
St. George’s Bay
Far Martino’s early Christmas breakfast starts at 12.30am with a mulled wine reception.
From 1am, guests will have a range of food at their disposal. The salad counter features salami, cured ham, smoked turkey, chorizo, liver pâté and lots of cheese.
Cumberland sausages, beef sausages, Maltese sausages, back bacon, curried-chicken risotto, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs and traditional Maltese ‘qassatat’ are just some of the other dishes on offer.
5. The Phoenicia
Floriana
For €37.50 (per person) diners will get welcomed with a festive drink including hot mulled apple juice.
A nice selection of food such as poached turkey breast with cranberry sauce, whole leg of lamb, whole roasted suckling pig with apple puree is what you can expect at the table.
6. The Xara Palace Relais & Châteaux
Mdina
The restaurant at this stunning hotel will guarantee that you officially start Christmas in style.
There’ll be a big selection of cheeses, Italian charcuterie, smoked fish, a live pancake station, a live omelette station, every other kind of egg imaginable and tons more.
