Wild Bluefin Tuna – One Of The World’s Finest Foods – Comes At A Bargain In Little Malta
One thing I love about living in Mosta is the itinerant traders that come by and ply their wares in their traditional vans and trucks.
Today, besides our daily bread man and veggie van, the fishmonger joined the chorus.
“Hawn tat-tonn!”
I put some clothes on and rushed down the stairs.
There was a selection of fish but the tuna caught my eye for the beautiful red sheen.
“How much is the tuna Chris?”
“€8”
Wow, such a good price! In Japan, a kilo would cost an arm and a leg and it would be for farm fattened frozen tuna while this is the real McCoy – wild fresh bluefin tuna from the Mediterranean sea.
