Aurora Magic Over Gozo: Northern Lights Captured At Salt Pans

Article Featured Image

A stunning sight unfolded over Gozo’s iconic salt pans earlier this morning, as a local seems to have captured the elusive northern lights on camera.

The rare phenomenon is not commonly seen in Malta, making the event all the more special.

Margo Morris shared this incredible sight earlier today and also mentioned in the Facebook comments that it was only visible through a camera.

“It is also good to know that the glow I picked up could only be seen with the camera, not with the naked eye, which is typical with a lot of aurora pics.”

In the comments, Margo also shared the settings of the camera to get this shot which was set at a 30-second exposure at 2.45am.

“It’s very rare to see this far south. It was an usually strong show last night. I have seen on other aurora pages that it is due again tonight but I’m not sure if it will be as strong,” Morris wrote in the comments.

The image shows the sky above the salt pans in Gozo with lit up with orange and red lights.
