Development And Regeneration Plan For Gozo General Hospital Announced
Good news for Gozo residents! The Ministry of Health and Active Ageing has unveiled an ambitious plan aimed at revitalising healthcare services on the island.
In a press conference, the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, announced a development and regeneration plan for the Gozo General Hospital in Victoria.
Minister Abela explained that part of this plan includes the development of a new acute care hospital. “The main objective of this plan is to provide Gozo with modern and comprehensive medical infrastructure, ensuring that top-level healthcare services continue to be available in Gozo itself,” stated Minister Abela.
The Minister went on to explain that the new hospital will accommodate around 400 beds, doubling the current capacity of the Gozo General Hospital. He also announced that part of the regeneration plan will include the introduction of a new Anatomy Centre, a new research facility, a CDAU Centre, and the installation of a new helipad for emergency transport to Mater Dei Hospital.
“Thanks to this plan, we will not only improve and offer top-level healthcare services, but we will also see a number of new quality jobs for Gozitans. The government continuously works to ensure that Gozitans have all necessary healthcare services provided in Gozo itself,” concluded Minister Jo Etienne Abela.
