Marsalforn Breakwater Project To Enter Month-Long Consultation Phase In Coming Weeks
The new phase of a massive project which will see Gozo’s Marsalforn Bay radically transform is set to begin soon.
The Environmental Impact Assessment on the beach’s Breakwater project has been completed, with the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) now set to open a process of consultation for a month.
“Anyone who is interested, apart from seeing and analysing the prepared document, can also give his contribution,” the Department of Information wrote earlier today, sharing one of the renders of what Marsalforn could end up looking like in the near future.
“The chosen design with relation to this project, that was always evaluated and welcomed by the Żebbug Local Council, is intent on satisfying two important criteria: the beach’s protection from bad weather, and the least possible amount of visual impact,” today’s post finished.
Last week, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri made it clear that the government’s intention is not turn Marsalforn into a yacht marina or any related maritime activity, recalling that the breakwater project is part of a larger masterplan for the beach which also includes the bay’s enlargement to be enjoyed by bathers and visitors.
